Please Pray and Fast for Unity and Good Will in the U.S.

As Abraham Lincoln said, “A nation divided against itself cannot stand.” Thus, I am calling for a Day of Prayer and Fasting For Unity and Good Will in the United States of America.

Date: Sunday, February 3rd

Please pray and fast for a softening of hearts, forgiveness for our vitriol and contention. Let’s pray for more kindness, more giving each other the benefit of the doubt, more harmony, more respect for others and their views, beliefs, and property. May we take more personal responsibility and educate ourselves in the principles of freedom that have served us for 243 years.

Let us pray and plead with the Almighty for the elimination of labeling, division, name-calling, back-biting, taking offense, judging, self-righteousness and ill-will. May we be filled with compassion, forgiveness, healing, hope, integrity, and positivity about each other and the future of our country.

May we look for the good in ourselves and others and rejoice in each other’s successes. May we humbly come before our God and repent for any way we have contributed to this discord and seek His aid in uniting, understanding and bringing peace to our nation.

Ideas for This Day of Fasting and Prayer

• Pray
• Meditate
• Reflect on our own behavior and how to refine it
• Apologize to someone we have ill-feelings toward
• Read the U.S. Constitution
• Fast (do without food and/or water for 24 hours and give the money we would have spent to the poor.)
• Read Scripture

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
